New post is out! to discover how to hike to Hagerman Tunnel. This was a mellow hike outside of Leadville that shows off Colorado's beauty and history.

A couple weeks ago, @jesssssy_ and I ventured down A couple weeks ago, @jesssssy_ and I ventured down a few hours to the San Juan Mountains for a much needed girls' trip! We went on one of my favorite hikes down here, hint it's one of my recent posts, and got to check out the new Via Ferrata in Ouray!
.
.
Want to learn more about what to do while visiting Ouray? Or want to get all the deets on the new Via Ferrata? Go subscribe to my blog! I have a couple posts coming out this week about exploring the bottom part of the state.
.
.
Also, if you choose to visit Ouray at this time, come prepared to wear masks and gloves. Shop owners will ask you to wear a mask. Just do it. I saw way too many people giving the workers grief. It's a small community that thrives on tourism.
.
.
Fun note, I ended up not going home and instead played outside for well over a week in the bottom portion of the state. I got in 6 new summits, checked out a couple new hikes, floated down the river, and slept in the back of my car for the duration.
.
.
So you can bet I was pretty dang stinky at the end of this!

Thanks for joining me on a sweet adventure Jessy, and thanks for the awesome photo.

Where are some of the bluest waters you've seen?To Where are some of the bluest waters you've seen?Today, I'm dreaming of brilliant colored lakes and high peaks. I originally hiked here almost 3 years ago after weather scared me off nearby peaks and I'm glad it did, otherwise I wouldn't have gone here.
I've wanted to come back ever since and it is finally happening this summer (virus restrictions pending) This time though, I'll be going here to climb the 13ers behind the lake.
If you want to know more about where this is, follow the link in my bio.
This is still one of my favorite hikes I've done, This is still one of my favorite hikes I've done, even three years later. I ended up here as a last minute resort due to bad storms on the peaks I'd planned on climbing. I ended up climbing those peaks a year later, but I really loved the moody feeling I got my these mountains.
I always say whenever I go somewhere i ended up adding two more items to my list. Well, this was no exception. I'm excited to hopefully go back here this summer and climb the surrounding peaks.
Want to know how to get here when the lockdowns are over?

There is never anything quite like standing on an There is never anything quite like standing on an edge, knowing that a small slip will result in your death. And it is moments like these that keep us returning to the mountains.
I got the chance to do the Citadel, a smaller 13er in Colorado a few weeks ago. Though not the most challenging mountain I've done, it was a fun one with lots of exposure and a nice airy rappel at the end. Read about doing the Citadel to Pettingell Traverse on the link in the bio!

One of my favorite parts of extreme sports, is you One of my favorite parts of extreme sports, is you eventually reach the point of no return. There is no turning back. There is no bailing. At some point the only option is to continue on. And it is moments like these that either break you or turn you into someone stronger.

The best part of being an extreme sports athlete, The best part of being an extreme sports athlete, is getting to experience places many will never be able to see.
I never thought of myself as an athlete. I was horrible at team sports. I couldn't run at all. But I've found that where I excel is in these high consequence sports like skiing, climbing, and mountaineering.
Maybe it is because it is completely on me as to whether or not I succeed or fail. I can have awesome partners and I have had amazing partners that I trust my life with. But at the end of the day, whether I ski that line or climb that route, it is on me. On how hard I have worked. In the end, my failure and my success is my own.
And after a long break, I'm excited to say my blog is up and running again. Parts of it are still clunky, but I'm stoked to keep working on it and writing about all my adventures outside. Go check it out in the bio!
