A fews weeks late, but I’m currently working on A fews weeks late, but I’m currently working on updating my adventures from Argentina and amping up this account as one of my goals for 2023. So here is what two weeks worth of food and gear looks like for backpacking in Patagonia. I’m heading back south in a couple days and am excited to show those adventures.
Patagonia was on my list for a while, so now that Patagonia was on my list for a while, so now that we are in Buenos Aires, I knew I really wanted to try to make it here. So we did! Some things to know about visiting Patagonia.

🗺️ The Patagonian region is massive, as is Argentina. Part of Patagonia is in Chile too, so you should plan out where you want to go while you are here. One of the most well know places is El Chalten. Climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking are popular pastimes here.

✈️ It’s a long way to travel from BA. To get to Chalten, travelers need to take a 3 hour flight from BA to El Calafate then a 3 hour bus from Calafate to Chalten.

🥾 There are many trails in the area. The visitor center will be able to answer any questions you have on trails. The most popular one is to Laguna de los Tres (Fitz Roy). Some of these trails can be combined into backpacking trails.

🎒 Pack your rain jacket and pants here. Patagonia is famously windy and wet. For the 5 days total I was here, it rained 4 of the days. If backpacking, a rain cover is really nice to have. If you don’t have one, line your bag with a large trash bag to keep your stuff dry.

Post coming soon on backpacking in Chalten.

I'm currently avoiding packing, so instead I made I'm currently avoiding packing, so instead I made a reel from a couple of my adventures this summer and spring. I'm going to miss Colorado and all of the adventures here, but I'm pretty stoked to be exploring Argentina with @moritalev for these next couple of months. Don't worry, we'll be back in time for ski season though (we wouldn't miss it), and for me to *finally* finish the van re-rebuild.

I had a really hard time finding a roof rack that I had a really hard time finding a roof rack that would even fit van with the roof extension being over 24" high. Those that I found were really expensive, so I bought a used truck bed rack to custome build my own. It had a lot of rust, so I had to remove it first before painting and moving on to cutting and welding it.

PSA, I started a blog tiktok haha. Go follow if yo PSA, I started a blog tiktok haha. Go follow if you'd like!

This year has had significantly less PNW mountaineering, something I'm a bit bummed about. Life has gotten in the way of things. So instead of posting new pics, here is a picture of last year's attempt at climbing Hood. We ended up having to turn around due to some pretty sketchy conditions (as did every other climber) but it still made for some really pretty pictures.
