Danielle Maxey is the founder and creator of the blog Atlas Calling. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2016 and attended the University of College Dublin in 2015. She has her BA in Anthropology and Classics, with an emphasis in Classical Archaeology. She worked in an archaeological field school in Argos Greece with the Western Argolid Research Project in 2015. She has now lived in three countries, the United States, Ireland, and Greece, and has traveled to nearly twenty countries. Her most recent trip brought her to New Zealand where she traveled in a van for over six weeks.
Danielle is an outdoor enthusiast but particularly enjoys skiing, snowboarding, hiking, climbing, and backpacking. She hopes to add white water kayaking and skydiving to that list soon. If you can’t find her, look to the mountains.
Danielle enjoys drinking wine and reading in some of her spare time. Some of her favorite novels include the Handmaid’s Tale, American Gods, the Last Unicorn and the entirety of the Harry Potter series. She has been a ski and snowboard instructor in the winter months in her home state. She has taken up photography in the little free time she has left, and is currently working on her first novel.
Natalie Kirkpatrick is a podcast contributor for the blog Atlas Calling. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2017 with her BA in International Affairs with a minor in Spanish. She also attended the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru in 2015. She has lived in the United States and Peru, and has traveled to almost ten countries. Her most recent trip brought her to New York City for the New Years festivities where she was able to see the ball drop from New Years Square.
Natalie loves the outdoors and enjoys skiing, hiking, yoga, and paddle boarding. She hopes to continue traveling and plans to go back to South America this summer where she will spend a few months backpacking.
In her spare time, Natalie also enjoys dancing, writing and reading. Some of her favorite books include Telex from Cuba and the entire Harry Potter series. She likes to do crafts and loves to draw. Natalie enjoys a cup of strong, good coffee or wine and learning new languages. She is planning on working as a ski instructor this winter and is currently awaiting news on her recent Peace Corps application to Mozambique.
