Week Three of the Year of the Adventure Challenge brought me to the Keystone ski resort in Colorado. The day was sunny and while the snow wasn’t great, I had a ton of fun, skiing around on North Bowl and Bushwacker, two of my favorite runs at the mountain. I also went snowboarding at Eldora, and had fun falling off boxes and jumps as I practiced my very small bag of tricks.
Week Four in the Year of Adventure Challenge brought me to Steamboat Spring ski resort in the northern part of Colorado for the weekend. It was a lot of fun getting to explore a new mountain. I hiked up a few times to the chutes and the east face. I loved skiing through the aspens and enjoyed the light, fluffy powder that Steamboat is known for.
Week Five took me to ski at Arapahoe Basin. The winds ran high that day after what seemed to be the first real snow of the season. The East Wall, one of my favorite runs in the park was closed so I went and ventured over to the West Wall. It was a fun day with boot deep power. The powder did not seem to like everyone though, as I saw many people being taken down by ski patrol.
Week Six was also fun, though went much differently than expected. After showing up at Winter Park for the Uphill Battle, we realized that the demos were for later and didn’t have our uphill gear with us. The next day, I got a late start at Eldora mountain resort. The parking lot was full, not what I had expected, so I went hiking up to the Hessie Trailhead in my snowboard boots.
